This will be the first of a weekly series here on RazorianFly where we give you an in-depth summary of the past few days in App Store news. Like every week for the past few months, we’ve had a lot of exciting news and rumors related to iPhone gaming.Â
Onyx Online:
The first and in my opinion, biggest piece of news is the announcement of “Onyx Online”, Demiforce’s new service which may turn into an iPhone version of Xbox Live. If enough developers would be willing to implement this within they’re games, this could turn into a very big deal! More information in this can be found on Demiforce’s website.
Ngmoco Announcements:
Another important announcement this week was the release date of Ngmoco’s Rolando. The long awaited iPhone title will be available on December 12th. The company also revealed some details on two more of their upcoming games, Doctor Awesome and Dropship. Both games will be “budget titles” meaning they will likely sell for under $1.99. All three of the games mentioned above will be available by years end.
Cube Released to the App Store:
A few days ago, the very first FPS (First Person Shooter) was released to the App Store for free. The game is called Cube [App Store], and is a technical demo according to the developer.
The graphics and controls are incredible, but a few things such as frame rate might turn you down. There are also first person shooters coming to the iPhone such as Zombie Mansion, Re-Volt and potentially Bioshock.
Fieldrunners Update:
The last but certainly not least important news story of the week is the arrival of Fieldrunner‘s 1.1 update. In case you don’t know, Fieldrunners [App Store] is the new highly addictive tower defence game for the iPhone and iPod touch. The new update includes music, new maps and new gameplay modes for users to enjoy. Here is a screenshot of what maps on Fieldrunners look like:
The game sells for $4.99 which may seem like a little much, but I find it to be worth every penny, even without the new features.
I hope you enjoyed reading through this week’s best App Store news, and I also hope you check back soon for more news, reviews and interviews here on the site.
