If you own a Nintendo Wii you may have already checked out Toki Tori via WiiWare. You may also have played the original version back in 2001 on GameBoy Colour or perhaps on your Windows Mobile. Now Two Tribes and Chillingo are bringing the popular game right to your iPhone and iPod Touch!

New Screenshots

With only days to go to Toki Tori’s debut on the App Store, we’ve just received these five NEW screen shots from the game, courtesy of Marti at Chillingo.

“Here are a few new screen short from the upcoming iPhone game, Toki Tori, an epic rescue as this cute titular egg-shaped chicken quests to find his still shell-bound siblings. Toki Tori is a platformer style puzzle game. The scale of each level is beautifully tuned in order to maximize addiction. The game has four worlds with multiple levels in each: Forest Falls, Creepy Castle, Slimy Sewer, and Bubble Barrage. All worlds contain similar game play but have unique environments, enemies, and soundtracks.

Toki Tori will keep you occupied for hours on end with its gloriously infuriating head-scratchers. ”

– Chilingo

Looking at them, we have to say that we honestly cannot wait for Toki to hatch this coming Friday!

RELEASE DATE: Coming Soon!
DEVELOPER: Two Tribes
PUBLISHER: Chillingo
GENRE: Platform Puzzler
DEVICES: iPhone™ & iPod® Touch

Chillingo contacted us this week letting us get our hands on the preview build for there upcoming title ‘Toki Tori’. The preview build we received contained 25 levels over 4 beautiful locations. In Toki Tori you take control over the games somewhat eggy hero named Toki, you’ll guide Toki through levels ranging from castles to sewers in his adventure and mission to save his eggy friends.

Toki Tori features fantastic graphics accompanied by addictive game play in what most would call a Platform Puzzler. Although I’ve never really been a big fan of platform games, I couldn’t wait to get my hands on this title and I was right to be excited. I’ve always been a fan of puzzle games on iPhone and this does not dissapoint, the platform aspect really makes things a lot more fast paced and exciting. Everything even in the preview build has been pulled off so well, from the menu screens, loading screens through to the game play and moving Toki around the levels.

Toki Tori’s control system couldn’t be simpler for anyone to get used too. There’s no need to have a virtual D-Pad in the game, all you have to do is simply tap the screen and Toki will happily move to that location, as long as its possible. Can’t see all of the level? No worries, all you have to do is use the iPhone wonderful mulity touch screen and pinch out, just like you would in the Photo.app and then you’re able to browse the entire level, then simply tap to go back! Couldn’t be simpler!

Through out the game Toki is given different tools to help him get through the levels, the tools span from Telewarp which allows you too move through solid areas of the level, Freeze-o-Matic which allows you too freeze the horrid monsters that stand in Toki’s way, Bridge Builder which lets Toki build a bridge to get across tricky bits of the levels terrain, there are many more tools avaiable to help you along the way.

The final release of Toki Tori is said to contain 80+ levels spanning over four locations, the bubble, the castle, the forest and the sewer. As I mentioned earlier, this is all based on the preview build of Toki Tori. Stayed tuned we’ll have a full review once its been released.

Whether you a fan of platform games, puzzle games or both. Toki Tori is a title coming to iPhone this year that you aren’t going to want to miss!
