RUMOR: The Apple iPad Could Cost £389

You heard me .. the Apple iPad, Apple’s answer to the modern net-book, could start as low as £389, according to a new rumor floating around.

Originating from review site Geeky Gadgets, the site claims to have been in contact with an ‘unnamed source’ (I’d honestly love to know who these people actually are .. really.) close to Apple, who states they have unannounced information on the UK pricing of the Apple iPad. At the official iPad event on January 27th, Apple only divulged the price of the new device in US dollars, leaving the UK and international media to enter an online frenzy over how much the device will cost overseas, once it does finally hit store shelves.

The new source claims that the iPad will start at £389 for the 16GB Wi-Fi model, with the 32GB Wi-Fi model coming in at £439 leaving the high storage 64GB Wi-Fi model to sit comfortably at £489. It is worth noting however that Geeky Gadgets state they too cannot vouch for the authenticity of this new information. Also, its worth noting that the new source didn’t have any information on the iPad 3G model – adding further doubt to the pricing leak. There is also no obvious indication as to whether these leaked UK prices are inclusive or exclusive of 17.5% VAT.

With all that said though, if these prices do turn out to be near the real thing .. I have to say I’m pretty happy. To be able to get a device as potentially powerful as the iPad, with 64GB of SSD storage all for under £500? That will do me nicely.

Will you buy the iPad at these UK prices? Chime in for your say, below.
