If you like puzzle games then you will like Rafter by Emantras Inc. It is a  physics puzzle game that needs all of your strategy skills to solve each complicated level.

When I first launched the app I wasn’t exactly won over by the initial graphics. It all seemed a bit plain and lacking in colour. It wasn’t until I actually started playing the game that I realised it was very apt for the physics puzzler and definitely the right choice that made the game more enjoyable.

Game play is very easy to follow, your task is to burst the tiny red mine where ever it may be placed on your screen. To do this at the top of your screen is a sketch area and in there you draw either a circle, rectangle or square in what ever width you think you might need. You can do long thin shapes or huge fat ones. Once you have created the shape it falls down your screen and knocks what ever it hits and hopefully it hits the red mine. If it doesn’t you draw another shape and try again, your score though will depend on how many times you try to hit it. So if you want a good score you need to hit it in the first one or two attempts. The level won’t go on and on it is timed as well so if you fail by the time the clock runs out you will have to start that level again.

Altogther there are 51 levels to complete and each one gets harder. On some of the levels there will be moving shapes you have to dodge past to get to the red mine or just more obstacles in your way to make your task that little bit harder. A few of the levels I had to make several fustrated attempts before I actually hit my target which only made me want to play the game more and more! The game is also OpenFeint enabled so you can share your high scores with other online players. There is not much in sounds effects because really it is not needed. Every time you hit something it makes a sound like it would if you actual hit wood against wood and the mine makes a nice little bursting sound when you finally hit it. The only thing I might add is the game play music is slightly annoying after a while, it plays through the game whilst you play.

I have not seen another game like this in the app store so it was very refreshing to play. It is one game I will play again as it is very addictive and hard to put down, but also the sort of puzzle game you can leave and go back to easily where you left off. I did notice in the apps description that the developer is going to be adding 50 more levels to the game and also the option to create your own levels too, which I must admit sounds a really good idea!

With the above in mind Rafter is one game that I would definitely recommend you check out.
