Don’t look now, but we could be in for the next era of publishing.

Over the last couple of days, woman’s magazine Viv Mag have been hard at work showing off to the world just how they see the future publishing on the iPad .. and I have to say, I’m impressed. We’ve already seen how the iPhone can visualize books using the old turn-by-turn method, with apps like Classics, but according to VivMag, they reckon the iPad might take books and magazines to the next level. Motion capture.

The video above is a demo of how the company thinks magazines should (and could) look on a device like the Apple iPad. Using this motion technique, you practically get to step out of ‘just’ reading the magazine and instead become immersed in an altogether different and full-blown interactive experience.

Motion Magazines look amazing, but if WSJ’s announced price of $17.99/mo is any indication, we will pay dearly for them. All those transitions and design layouts require skilled designers to pull them off. Adds to the cost…
