Wake up, you’re already late and behind on that long list of todo’s you’ve been writing down on an archaic legal pad. Unless you find that the native Notes app to be sufficient, you’re likely to find yourself knee deep in task management apps and take it from me, there is a ton to choose from in the App Store. So what are you going to do about that ridiculous list of tasks? Cry about it? No! Time to put up or shut up and start getting things done like a hero!
Taska from BitAlpha studios, is a stylish GTD (getting things done) application for iPhone, iPod touch and iPad. The iPad version sports a gorgeous graphical interface that feels right at home on the large screen. Plus it doesn’t hurt to have a fair amount of eye candy when forcing yourself to do work and such. Navigating is a breeze in landscape and portrait orientations, however, I always find myself using the landscape in favor of portrait. If I’m on the go, the portrait view is a great way to knock an item off my list without the awkward wrist action required while walking and holding iPad with one hand.
While I am not a GTD kinda guy, I wanted something that was tailor made for the iPad, not just a big version of an iPhone app. There are a ton of features included too including context, sorting, tags and project support. For some of you who are hardcore GTD users, these will feel like second nature and you’ll be up and running in no time. For those of us, myself included, might not use these features regularly or at all. The beauty of Taska is that you can still utilize the app with or without these tools.
I found using the app as a simple task capture and reporting tool was a joy. Entering tasks was hassle free but the advanced options were still there if I needed them. I was really happy to see that modifying my lists took very little effort. Sometimes it’s nice to reorganize your tasks to adapt a given need.
Bitalpha is going to introduce ToodleDo syncing along with search functions which will appeal to the GTD faithful. I will say, I wish there were more apps that offered OWA/Exchange syncing, the saturation rate can’t possibly be that high among iPad and iPhone users in the professional work force. I won’t knock Taska for this though, they only had a limited amount of development time for the iPad version.
The elegant user interface and growing feature list makes Taska one to seriously consider when searching for organization to your life. Having the muscle power hardcore users demand and the eye candy to make work, well, feel fun, moves Taska to the top of the growing pile of productivity apps!
Buy this app on iTunes for $4.99.
