Bird Strike – Gold Edition

Bird Strike is an addictive game developed by PikPok. Launch Gerald the cute looking bird, up high into the sky collecting points and rockets as he goes up, up and away!

The game is simple, you have to get Gerald as high up as you can. You start him off by flinging him up. He is sat on a power cable and you pull the cable wire down, let go and it shoots him up in the air at great speed. You control him by tilting your phone so he moves from side to side, and as he flies up to earn points, you need to collect the seeds and pick-ups that are scattered around.

Now, he doesn’t have enough power to just keep going higher you have to help him along. Scattered around with the seeds are rockets or jet suits, if he picks one of those up he gets a little more power which shoots him up higher. To keep on going up you need to keep collecting those rockets otherwise he will slowly start drifting back down. If he hits the floor then I’m afraid that’s it, little Gerald will be no more. Well not until you restart the game again anyway!

On his way up make sure you dodge the obstacles in his way. Things like hot air balloons and steel girders are just some of what you might encounter. They will stop him in his tracks, stun him slightly and it then knocks him back down. You need to quickly grab a rocket as he’s falling down and make sure you dodge it the next time.

There are two playing modes World Tour and Endless Mode. If you are playing the World Tour the points you collect determine what levels you can play. The higher score you achieve unlocks different places to play with different backgrounds. Different items give you different amount of points and some items for example balloons, give you points but they also slow you down.

When you finally do get to the top you meet a not so friendly UFO who zaps you and sends you zooming back down at great speed. On your way down grab as much as you can in points, it all counts no matter which way you are going! Nothing will hurt you either on the way down after been zapped so you can even smash those steel girders with your head.

The endless mode speaks for itself really. You just see how high you can get Gerald to fly. There is no top you just keep going higher and higher. The Gold Edition game is also OpenFeint enabled giving you chance to compete online with your friends getting the highest on the leader boards and gaining achievements.

The graphics within the game are great and the catchy music will get your feet tapping. There are lots of sound effects as you play along which all add to the game being a real pleasure to play. There is definitely value for your money within the app. You have the two levels with one that can be played over and over and then the @OpenFeint features. Lots of fun to keep you entertained and another great game I will be keeping on my beloved iPhone.
