With the canyon between Apple and Adobe ever-widening over the recent decision from Jobs to completely disallow the company’s Flash technology on Apple’s iPhone OS-based devices, Apple has today launched a new section on Apple.com entitled ‘HTML 5 and Web Standards‘.

Only viewable in the company’s Safari browser, which can be downloaded here, the section provides users with a quick overview of what the future of the standard web might look like.

The new section provides users a look at seven different interactive aspects of the web, including; Video, Typography, Galleries, Transitions, Audio, 360 and VR, each of which an interactive demo by the company, in an effort to make developers pick-up the new future standard.

See, Apple and Jobs for that matter are trying to phase out existing clunky web standards such as Flash, for more streamline prettier looking to-be-standards, the problem is not everyone agrees getting rid of flash entirely is that much of a good decision.

Apple’s message is clear: HTML5 is mature enough for wide adoption, and sites which require add-ons to display content are a thing of the past. The text on the site states: “Standards aren’t add-ons to the web. They are the web.” Yes, you can definitely cover a lot of ground that used to belong to Flash with HTML5. What Apple doesn’t tell us is that one could create a similar showcase in Flash with far more advanced effects, which are way out of reach of HTML5 and CSS3.

Cue, HTML5. We’ve recently seen video sharing site @YouTube trialing web standard, and a few months back now even @Facebook got in on the HTML5 action, adding the technology to its in-site video players. Its clear the standard will be part of our lives on the web, the question is; Is it here to stay?

With devices such as the iPhone, iPod touch and iPad pioneering support for the standard, we’re guessing the answer is yes.
