If you had your sight set on pre-ordering an iPhone 4 in White with US network AT&T tomorrow, you may just be out of luck.
Although the device will be available in White eventually (as announced last Monday by Apple), new information surfaced today which suggests AT&T intends to roll out iPhone 4 in Black first, with the White model set to be available later this summer.
The evidence comes in the form of an internal e-mail passed to an employee inside the network which @ModMyi claims to show the company’s future plans regarding the new device.
Apparently (see above image emailed to AT&T employees) the iPhone 4 will ONLY be available in black for pre-orders and launch. The initial lineup will be the 3G[S] in 8GB, and the black iPhone 4 at 16GB and 32GB.
The white 16GB and 32GB iPhone 4 will be available “later this summer.”
I guess we’ll just have to wait and see if these rumors are true, come June 24th.
[Update] – German telecoms network @DeutscheTelekom today confirmed via a tweet that the iPhone 4 would only be available to pre-order in Black from 10AM (their time) tomorrow. – Thanks for letting us know @huxi.
iPhone 4 in schwarz morgen ab 10 Uhr bei der #Telekom vorbestellbar.
iPhone 4 in black preorder tomorrow from 10 clock in the # Telekom.
[Update 2] – As Twitter user @Digeratii notes, Apple may want exclusivity over the White models for a few weeks, initially.
There’s a strong possibility that Apple is only selling white phones themselves right now, and outsourcing black ones.
[Update 3] – It seems @DeutscheTelekom have also stated pretty specifically that White models of iPhone 4 are not available.
Weiße Geräte vorerst nicht lieferbar (iPhone 4).
White first equipment not available (iPhone 4).
