While the UK waits with bated breath for any one of the 5 telecom networks to announce actual handset pricing for iPhone 4, @9to5Mac is today reporting that Japan has already enjoyed this luxury.

According to the site, Japanese mobile telecoms network Softbank today revealed pricing of the iPhone 4, with the device starting at 57,600 yen for the 32GB model and 46,080 yen for the 16GB model.

As the site notes, that’s about $624 for the 32GB model and $500 for the 16GB device. That will be roughly double the cost of the device in the US, as it goes on sale for pre-order tomorrow.

But its not all bad news, because Softbank also announced today it would be offering discounts (just like AT&T are doing with their upgrade offers in the US), if customers agree to take out a 2 year contract with them.

“A two year commitment for a 32GB iPhone 4 will cost you 57,600 yen but return 46,080 yen in discounts bringing a total difference of 11,530 yen or around $125 USD. A 16GB iPhone 4 will cost 46,080 yen with 46,080 yen discount or a whopping 0 yen!” Mobile In Japan explains.
