If you happen to follow me on Twitter (@razorianfly) you may have seen that yesterday I came to the realization iOS4 was UTF8 compatible. What this means is the operating system has the ability to show various different character glyphs which would otherwise be inaccessible.
The discovery, (which if you’ve ever been part of the jailbreak scene you’ll probably already be familiar with), took off like wild fire yesterday, with the tweet becoming my most re-tweeted.
If you happened to have missed it though, here’s a short step by step guide on how to add a little pizazz to your folders in iOS4.
Step 1 – Copy any of the following symbols:
♥ ✈ ☺ ♬ ☑ ♠ ☎ ☻ ♫ ☒ ♤ ☤ ☹ ♪ ♀ ✩ ✉ ☠ ✔ ♂ ★ ✇ ♺ ✖ ♨ ❦ ☁ ✌ ♛ ❁ ☪ ☂ ✏ ♝ ❀ ☭ ☃ ☛ ♞ ✿ ☮ ☼ ☚ ♘ ✾ ☯ ☾ ☝ ♖ ✽ ✝ ☄ ☟ ♟ ✺ ☥ ✂ ✍ ♕ ✵
Step 2 – If you haven’t already make sure you create a new folder. To do this you simply tap, hold and drag an icon over another until the underlying icon flashes.
Step 3 – Once you have created your folder, tap and hold on any icon on your homescreen. This will ensure the icons enter ‘Edit’ mode.
Step 4 – Tap and hold your finger over the folder text field until the magnifying glass appears.
Step 5 – Hit ‘Paste’.
That’s it! – Your iOS4 folder should look something like the screenshot below.
