Us geeks love computers and gadgets. We think different (apologies for the corny pun) than any other average human. Of course, there is an app for that to satisfy your unique geeky personality.

This application is simply called, @Mactracker. Mactracker started out as an application for Macs and PCs, but soon moved to the App Store and the iPhone platform. Quite simply, Mactracker tracks all products Apple has released and displays detailed information on each product.

Mactracker’s simplistic user interface makes finding products easy. It is simply just a list of computers and other devices. These gadgets are sorted by category. Personally, I quite enjoy the plainness of it, its not too advanced and very usable. To learn more about a product, just tap it. The app will then show all generations associated with the name – and again, tapping will show very detailed information of the product, with icons designed by @TheIconfactory. It will display dates when it was introduced, discontinued, the model number, initial price, weight, dimensions. storage, software, resolutions, etc, etc, etc.

One of the features I really dig, if you are viewing a computer, is the ability to play the startup chime. It is quite fascinating to hear how startup chimes have progressed/improved over the years.

This incomplex application will truly fill your brain with all things Apple. This is great, although, it has been over five months since Apple’s announcement of the iPad, and Mactracker has not been updated to include Apple’s revolutionary device. This is a little bit of a bummer that the developers do not constantly update it.

The best part is — it is free! Go pick up Mactracker in the App Store. It is worth the 4.6 MB download.
