Meet, iPed. – [VIDEO]

If you thought Apple’s tablet computer would be better served running @Google’s Android operating system, you needn’t look any further than China.

Sealed inside a white box which is described as “nearly identical” to the official one Apple currently ships the device out in, and costing a mere $105, the iPed could quite easily be mistaken for Apple’s latest highly anticipated creation – until you take it out of its box, that is.

The iPed is nothing like the iPad in any way.

Firstly, the build quality, its … well, cheap. Like most knock-off clones, the general idea appears to be; make as many as you possibly can at the cheapest cost of manufacturing possible, sell for $70-80 above manufacturing cost, equaling huge profit. On top of its questionable build quality, the device’s outer black bezel appears to have grown an inch, meaning you’ve already lost an inch off your screen real estate before you even get going.

Secondly, according to @Mashable the device is based on an @Intel chip, has just 128 MB of RAM compared to iPad’s 256 MB and is only currently available with 16GB of storage space

The main difference though? It doesn’t run iPhone OS. No, in fact, the iPed runs @Google’s Android OS, and as the site notes the amount of RAM this thing has it just can’t handle the graphic power needed, with on-screen use appearing noticeable sluggish and laggy.

How long before Apple puts a stop to this nonsense? … We give it a week.
