If you’re a MobileMe member or in fact have ever used the service in a trial period, you’ll like know about a feature dubbed ‘Find My iPhone’. Find My iPhone is simple.

In the event of you losing or having your iPhone stolen, Apple will now locate it for you using GPS (or Wi-Fi triangulation if GPS isn’t available), allowing you to send custom alert messages, in an attempt to get the device returned to you, or remotely wipe the device so that if the iPhone is never returned you can rest easy knowing that yours and your friends details are not in the hands of strangers.

Today, to make that system even more complete than it already is Apple has released Find My iPhone for iPhone, iPod touch and iPad. The universal app will run on all three of Apple’s mobile devices and allow users to sign in with their member name and password (MobileMe subscription required) to locate their missing device on a map and have it display a message or play a sound. The user can then remotely lock the device to protect his or her privacy, or wipe it to permanently delete all of their data if they think that it won’t be returned.

Find My iPhone is FREE for all customers of MobileMe and is available on the App Store now.

Thanks to everyone who sent this in!
