Over-The-Air (OTA) Updates For iOS Devices – [CONCEPT]

Following rumors surfacing earlier this week, which suggested that Apple may already be in talks with U.S network Verizon over the offering of over-the-air updates to iOS devices in a future version of its software using either Wi-Fi or 3G, iFans member Appman today offers up a would-be concept of how he believes this system might work in the future.

Based around Apple’s existing push notifications system, Appman suggests that users would be alerted to new updates just as they are now with breaking news, game updates and other information.

I was wondering earlier today, if Apple did implement the over-the-air updates, what they would look like. So, I made these mockups in Photoshop on what how I think Apple may use their OTA updates along with a new lockscreen notification mockup.

The user would then initiate download of the software OTA, with a progress bar indicating exactly how much of the software was left to download to the device.
