The iPhone Duo pre-order countdown is officially entering its final stretch.
Apple is opening up its “Get ready” experience on Monday, October 12, giving prospective iPhone Duo buyers a few days to get everything lined up before the real pre-order rush begins on Friday.
And if you’re planning on buying one, this is probably the bit you don’t want to ignore.
Starting Monday, Apple will let customers begin setting up their iPhone Duo pre-order through the Apple Store app and Apple.com, allowing them to make their choices ahead of the big day. That means selecting the colour, storage capacity, connectivity options and payment details before pre-orders actually go live. (9to5Mac)
In other words: you can do the boring bit now, rather than frantically doing it while everyone else is hammering Apple’s servers on Friday afternoon.
And there are quite a few choices to make
The iPhone Duo starts at £1,999 for 256GB, rising to £2,199 for 512GB, £2,599 for 1TB and a rather eye-watering £3,199 for 2TB. Both Night Sky and Star White are available. (Apple)
Once you’ve decided how much iPhone you actually need — and how much your bank account is prepared to tolerate — you can get your configuration ready ahead of time.

So Monday is effectively the starting gun for the pre-pre-order.
Why bother doing it early?
Because when Friday rolls around, you don’t want to be making decisions.
You want to be pressing the button.
Apple’s “Get ready” process is designed to speed up checkout by allowing customers to prepare their order in advance. That’s particularly useful for a completely new iPhone category like Duo, where early demand could make launch-day availability rather interesting.
And let’s face it: if you’ve already spent the last few weeks deciding between Night Sky and Star White, 256GB and 512GB, and repeatedly staring at Apple’s iPhone Duo page, you might as well get the important stuff sorted.
