Sometimes, there are songs which you just have to play, and play and play. Recently while browsing the store, I’ve come across hundreds of songs which I think should be played everywhere. Here are some more which I have on heavy rotation. Hopefully you’ll enjoy them just as much as I do …
I like a huge variety of music, from Dizzi Rascal’s ‘Dance Wiv Me’ [iTunes], to Madonna’s ‘Miles Away’ [iTunes], to The Subway’s ‘Roll and Roll Queen’ [iTunes] and even Keane’s ‘Spiraling’ [iTunes]. In this second part of ‘Music We Like’ I’d like to compile a list of some of the more obscure tracks I’m currently listening to, as well as tell you a little about each. Every track featured can be downloaded through iTunes by following the link marked .
Part ONE Here.
That’s That [iTunes]
Cass McCombs – Featuring a consistent beat, up beat rhythm and wide ranging vocals, Cass McCombs paints a picture of a man’s life cleaning toilets – (it’s a better listen, trust me).
If This Is Love [iTunes]
The Saturdays – Taking the catchy world renown riff from Yazoo’s ‘Situation’, The Saturdays (an albeit cheese on toast selection of pop girls) mix it up, change the lyrics – and do you know what? I think it actually works.
Paper Planes [iTunes]
M.I.A – Ahh, MIA – the fairly weird-styled pop legend. Currently running as the soundtrack to the hit movie ‘Pineapple Express’ MIA outlines a rather stark visualisation of modern life.
Declaration of War [iTunes]
Hadouken – Always loved Hadouken. It’s just their sheer unique style. Listen, trust me you’ll like.
Pins [iTunes]
Alex Metric – Funky shortcut beat, drum machines and more. Alex Metric takes you on a journey of sheer electronic rave.
Bad Day [iTunes]
R.E.M – REM. One of the biggest bands in the world. I went to see them live recently (photos), they blew we away. Bad Day has to be one of their greatest songs to date. Putting it on when your having a bad day, and your bad day will just fade away …
Bruises [iTunes]
Chairlift – Perhaps the only track i like off their current album, and currently the backing to Apple’s new iPod nano advert ‘Nano-Cromatic’, you can’t help but love this track, very catchy!
Black Panther [iTunes]
Crystal Castles – Electronic rave, subtly put.
Tune into Part 3 sometime in October.
