[Updatex4] – 13.08.08 (09.12am)
All issues are resolved, and I can now access the remote volume from finder. For anyone experiencing these problems with DataCase, the fix was simple. Select ‘Go’ from the menus within finder, then select ‘Network’. Your remote volume(s) should now appear on the sidebar the next time you launch a finder window.
Note: DataCase does not keep a persistant connection to your Pc/Mac, therefore DataCase is required to be open on your iPhone throughout transferring files.
Hopefully, with the introduction of Apple’s Push Notification Service later this year, the developer of DataCase could enable Datacase to run without the application being open so that you didn’t actually have to look at the application when transferring files.

Experiencing Problems
This is a copy of an e-mail I’ve just sent to Veiosoft (support@veiosoft.com) after hours of trying to get the iPhone application to work with my iMac:
Hello,
I recently bought DataCase for iPhone. Unfortunately the iPhone does not show up in finder as a ‘shared’ device. My iMac is connected to the same home network as my iPhone, my iPhone is connected to the same home network as my iMac and although DataCase reports the IP and port openings of the shared volume, the volume(s) do not exist to be shared with my iMac. My firewall allows all incoming connections for file sharing.
After spending £3.99 on this application, I really, really want to get this working. I chose DataCase from the App Store over the competition; ( FileMagnet, MobileFinder and Files).
I would be very gratefully if you could get back to me on this matter as soon as possible.
Thank you and regards,
Arron
…
Thank you to everyone who helped me out over at my open thread at Mac Rumors.

What is DataCase?
DataCase for iPhone is a application which turns your iPhone into a remote file server and viewer. Start-up the application, and your iPhone will immediately be accessible as a drive in Finder or Windows Explorer. Simply drag and drop the files you wish to be wirelessly transferred to the device, into the drive shown, and your files seamlessly transfer to your iPhone over-the-air.
Even the application’s document lists update in real-time, as your files are transferring!
Currently supports:
– Microsoft Office
– Text
– Images
– HTML
– Audio
– Video
[Update] – 12.08.08 (14.33pm)
The application functions through the use of Apple’s ‘Bonjour’ technology.
New to Bonjour?
From Apple.com
“Computers and devices with Bonjour automatically broadcast their own services and listen for services being offered for the use of others. Your computer might see a printer available for printing, an iTunes playlist available for listening, an iChat buddy available for video conferencing. Or even another computer available for file sharing.”
Alternatives
There are a few alternatives to DataCase, for example FileMagnet [App Store], Mobile Finder [App Store] and Files [App Store],
but none of which cannot connect to your mac through bonjour.
I’ll be updating this post with further tidbits as I find them.
