  • Web Trends: 2008

    Notice the Trends of 08.

Web trends are ever-changing. The web has seen various trends and recognisable changes in the general design and layout of web pages, for the past decade. I’d like to highlight a few.

Firstly – glossy is gone. Finally, that ‘Web 2.0 gloss-everywhere’ look, is fading out.
    Also out? – Glossy gradients.

    Hot Now?
Pencil sketches, handwritten notes, card stocks, watercolor effects, collage art, script fonts, grunge and splatter ink.

    1. Splattered Ink

A number of sites are incorporating this into their design, and when done right, the results are pretty darn impressive …

    PART THREE – NOW AVAILABLE

Please note: All imagery used in this article is copyright and remains the property of the BBC.

Also note: Because I am unfamiliar with some of these new species, I may spell some of their names incorrectly.
    I apologize for this.

As you probably know by now, the BBC tonight broadcast a one-hour, fascinating, documentary of an untouched landscape in Guyana, South America. This landscape, untouched and preserved until present day, is thought to be full of undocumented, never-seen-before wildlife.

This is part 2 of 3 – If you missed Part 1, you can find my article with photos, here.

Unfortunately, the recording of part 1, is no longer available from the BBC
    – although still available on YouTube! . –

    Thanks Jonny (Comment)

I watched the entire documentary, and thought Iā€™d share some of the more interesting finds …

  • Music, is Life.

Today, I’ve come to the conclusion I honestly couldn’t live without music, if I tried. I’m listening to some sort of it, 24/7. The funny thing about it is, I can listen to almost anything, and like it. So what makes my tolerance of the stuff, so diverse I wonder? – What makes anyone’s perception of music so diverse? – Why do some people hate the types of music other people live for? – Opinion.

Everyone is different, and so everyone likes and loath different aspects of life – I understand that. With so much music out, now-a-days and with new and up-coming bands spring up here, there and almost everywhere, it’s not surprising that some genre’s are looked down upon. But it doesn’t have to be that way – I mean, you can like music, or dislike it, but you don’t have to hate on it …

  • Film Review: The Dark Knight (Why So Serious?)

Batman is Back, with the Joker.

So, over the weekend I went to watch one of the most anticipated, famed films of the year.
Critically acclaimed to be the only blockbuster worth watching, and the action concealed within, by God did it deliver.

    Synopsis
Bruce Wayne/Batman (Christian Bale) continues to eliminate crime in Gotham City with the help of Lt. Jim Gordon (Gary Oldman) and District Attorney Harvey Dent (Aaron Eckhart). The Dark Knight wants to finally get rid of organized crime for good and be free of their corruption. Batman soon finds that a new psychopathic mastermind known as the Joker (Heath Ledger) has taken over organized crime. After the fall of Carmine Falcone, the remaining crime bosses try to pick up the pieces. However, the Joker is killing them off one by one. The Joker’s plan is to terrify the citizens and throw the city into chaos, and then kill Batman. Batman takes the fight with the Joker personal, which makes him confront his own beliefs. The Joker is the most dangerous criminal that Batman has encountered, and he will need all his strength and vigilance to defeat him. Douglas Young (the-movie-guy) …
