  • Armin Heinrich: The ‘I Am Rich’ Walkthrough – [Updated].

    [Update] – 10.08.08

It appears, the website which was supposedly managed by Armin Heinrich himself to promote ‘I Am Rich’, has ensured peace of mind of the customers who purchased the application, accidentally (through ‘one-click’), by stating those customers will be fully refunded, soon – Good move Armin, good move.

    Original Article:

Well, looks like someone has cracked Apple’s DRM on Heinrich’s pulled application, I am Rich.
Here is a full walk-through of the $999.99 application …

  • Radius: The Only Spherical Thriller, for iPhone.

A new spherical action title has hit the store. It’s Radius [App Store] by Pattern Making Co.

    Basic Concept
The aim of the game is to defend your sphere from enemies which land on it’s surface. The faster you tap and rotate the sphere the more you gain. The sphere has life which can be damaged, due to attacks, but also your reaction time.

    Gameplay
The sphere can be rotated easy by flicking and swiping your finger. This interface makes the game what it is. It actually gets quite frenzied the more time enemies are given to invade the sphere. Further into the game enemies can split off into multiple moving targets. You must catch them before they also try the attack. Killing an enemy is as simply as taping on it. Future enemies will progressively get harder as they develop different personalities and dependencies, some even requiring multiple taps …

  • Armin Heinrich – ‘I Am Rich’ Pulled From the App Store. – [Briefly]

    [Update] – 08.08.08

Six people in the U.S., one from Germany and one from France bought the $999.99 application.

    Original Article:

I updated the original article with this information, but now I have a bit more. It seems one reason the application may have been pulled, is due to an app store review (above).

The words of a no-doubt anxious buyer, having Apple await to deduct the $999.99 owed from his/her account, for … well, an application which basically has no purpose …

  • iTunes 7.7.1 – “Sorry, I can no-longer Update your Applications. GoodBye.” – [Updatedx2]

    Sorry, I just had to.

    [Updatex2] – 13.08.08 (9.33am)

Interestingly, the latest security fix for Mac OSX Leopard has completely resolved all update procedure issues with iTunes and iPhone.

    Go figure?

    [Update] – 06.08.08

    – iTunes has now started displaying MULTIPLE versions of each update when accessing the update section of iTunes. Also to note, I can no longer download any applications (never mind update them), to my iPhone through the App Store. I get an alert to the effect of:

“iTunes is unable to download these applications. These applications will be available once you connect to iTunes”

    Original Article:

So, whats the problem? – iTunes 7.7.1.

The recent update pushed by Apple. After updating to it, many users are now reporting serious problems with the application update system, including me. I’ll walk you through what we’re experiencing as iPhone and iPod touch users …

  • Meta Squares – An addictive puzzle game, for iPhone.

While browsing the App Store this morning I came across a new addition to Apple’s ever-growing library, Meta Squaresâ„¢
    [App Store].

    Basic Concept of the Game
Basically, the aim of the game is to capture the largest amount of squares by squaring them off at each of the four corners. Points are earned relative to the size of the square you capture. A large square, covering 25 spaces, is worth 25 points. A smaller square covering 9 spaces is worth 9 points. Squares can also be created diagonally with the added benefit that diagonal squares earn you more points. The first to 150 points, wins.

    Visuals
For the price, the visuals of this game are outstanding. The game is set out on a clear 64 piece board. Each player must take it in turns to fill this board with coloured globes, and attempt to outline that winning square. The globes look realistic, and the overall feel of this title speaks ‘professional’ and ‘well thought-out’ …

  • Apple’s App Store – The ‘hobby’ that will grow to be worth in excess of $1.2B, by 2009.

Apple's new iTunes venture is set to be worth billions by 2009.

[Edit] – Sorry! corrected developer’s name. It’s Eliza Block, not Ericka.

When Apple announced in March that they were planning to release a standard method to download/buy and install third-party applications onto the iPhone, sure, everyone could see the potential, but the App Store’s worth, as a business, was slightly overlooked …

  • The better way to sketch, on iPhone – [Updatedx2].

    [UPDATE] – 27/08/08 (19.46pm GMT)

LateNightSoft has announced it’s 1.3 update of Sketches is now in review and should be available soon.
This update is said to bring the following new features to Sketches:

    – Text input
    – Web Sharing
    – Easily locate shapes (New Algorithm)
    – New ‘Office Items’
    – Tip system
    – Bug Fixes and Optimisation

    [UPDATE] – 01/08/08

I recently e-mailed LateNightSoft to notify them of the usage of material they own the copyright for, within this article.
The response I got back included information of future planned features!

“… Many thanks for letting us know, and for calling our attention about such a thorough review of our application! We’ve put a lot of effort into Sketches and feel proud and happy whenever we know people like it. The suggested features in the final section of your article are very interesting. I can confirm that we are now working on the ability to export to e-mail, so you can expect that in a future release. It hasn’t been available yet because Apple has not yet released an approved way to send an email with attachments from within a third party app. The only feature available in the official SDK is to launch the Mail application, but this would mean quitting Sketches AND losing the attachment data, so we have no option but to create our own mail delivery interface. It is not an optimal solution (it will look different than Apple’s Mail application; we won’t be able to automatically retrieve your mail account configuration from the system), but we hope it will get the job done.

Other features we are working on right now are the ability to enter text using the on-screen virtual keyboard, and an eraser tool. Many other ideas are planned for future releases, I hope you like them!”

    Thanks again!
