  • Joost: Alternative to Hulu?

While we wait for NBC to develop a mobile version of their video service Hulu, and pray for an alternative to iPhone’s built in YouTube app, Joost’s native client has arrived on iPhone. With a selection of over 46.000 videos, it’s a pretty good alternative – It’s not a YouTube, it’s about 8.000.000 videos short of that title, but it is respectable. For those of you who are yet to experience Joost, think NBC’s Hulu service, only on a smaller scale. Music Videos, TV Shows, Movies and more … (more…)

  • iPhone Spotted in ITV’s The Bill – [Briefly]

I’m not even entirely sure if this is newsworthy or not, but recently I’ve seen the iPhone and iPod touch featured a lot of adverts, and it was quite interesting tonight to see a fairly major ITV (www.itv.com) drama blatantly advertise the iPhone. Hit the jump for shots. (more…)

  • Apple Pushes out 1.1.1 for Remote

We’re slightly slow off the mark on this one, but Apple a couple of hours ago pushed an update out for it’s ‘Remote’ application. Remote allows users to remotely control their iTunes libraries from an iPhone, iPhone 3G, iPod touch Generation 1, or the more recent iPod touch Generation 2. It’s one of the slickest apps on the store.

  • Classics: The Stylish eBook Reader, Now Available – [VIDEO]

[Update] – See Classics in action, with our brief video walk-through. Just added.

Let me first say I’ve never really been the reading type. I went through a spell while on holiday one year of picking up a book and not being able to put it down. The most prominent of these two being ‘Digital Fortress’ [Wiki] and ‘The Da Vinci Code’ [Wiki] by Dan Brown. Two amazing reads if you ever get a chance to look at them.

Anyhoo, for the purpose of this review, I last night bought Classics. Not because I like reading (although I can feel I probably will again, after using this app for a while), I wanted to talk to you about it’s clearly leading user interface … (more…)

  • Polar Bear Farm Celebrates Turning the Big 1.0 – [Updated]

[Update] – This sale has now ended.

Today is the 1st birthday of fairly successful iPhone developers ‘Polar Bear Farm‘. Consequentially, you can now get all four of their applications completely FREE. The total worth of the 4 applications is roughly $11. It’s not clear how long this crazy-ass sale will last, but I’d get in on it pretty quickly if I was you … (more…)

  • Ngmoco Debuts on the Store: Maze Finger & Topple

Ngmoco have been in the news a lot lately, but they first hit it big for being one of the first companies to, aim development at Apple’s touch platform, and secondly, secure funding from the $100.000.000 iFund.

The VC-funded Silicon Valley start-up ngmoco have this morning debuted two of their three killer apps onto the App Store. Committed to making iPod touch and iPhone the leading platforms they were created to be, and focusing on bringing innovation into the world of touch, ngmoco are certainly an App Store presence to watch.

After the jump I get into what these two new titles offer,
and why you’ll be falling over yourself to get their third … (more…)

  • Heads-Up: App Shopper by Arnold Kim

You may know Arnold Kim (Arn), but if you don’t he’s most notably responsible for running Mac Rumors.com – the very successful rumor-based site relating to all things Apple. Earlier this year, to our surprise, Kim announced he’d quit his job as a physician, with the intention to run and manage Mac Rumors full time. He’s now said to be focusing on other interesting, helpful web projects, one of which is App Shopper … (more…)
