  • AmpKit – Coming Soon

Yesterday, we got the heads up by Agile Partners that their new app is on its way to the AppStore, AmpKit. Agile Partners, for those who are unfamiliar with the name, are the developers of both Guitar ToolKit and Tab ToolKit, probably the two biggest selling apps for Guitarists.

Being a big fan of both Guitar ToolKit and TabToolKit this new app sounds very exciting. AmpKit is said to be the ultimate amp and pedal kit right on your iPhone with the ability to record what you’re playing as well. Agile Partners have teamed up with Peavey Electronics to put this amazing app together. Whilst the app is free, you do need to purchase the AmpKit LiNK (available to pre-order for $39.99) which will allow you to plug your guitar into your iPhone.

    Here’s the full press release:

Fresh off the heels of winning a 2010 Apple Design Award last week for our TabToolkit app, Agile Partners is pleased to announce that we are joining forces with Peavey Electronics, one of the world’s largest music and audio products companies, to launch:

    • AmpKit, the ultimate guitar amp and pedal studio for iPhone and
    • AmpKit LiNK, a high fidelity electric guitar connector for iPhone/iPod touch/iPad.

You can check it all out here: <http://ampkitapp.com. It’s incredibly easy to plug an electric guitar into an iPhone using AmpKit LiNK and then jam anytime and anywhere with all the gear in the AmpKit app.  AmpKit is the perfect addition to Agile Partners’ GuitarToolkit and TabToolkit family of guitar apps.

AmpKit is a free app that comes with a two-channel Peavey ValveKing amp, 2 cabinets, 2 mics and 3 pedals.  In addition, you can buy all sorts of additional gear from an in-app Gear Store:

    • 10 additional amplifiers based on the actual circuitry of amps from leading manufacturers
    • 12 cabinets, 12 pedals and 6 mics
    • and more gear coming all the time!

With AmpKit, you can also record, re-amp, play with backing tracks, and create your own custom setups with 12+ active pedals in a single setup.  Unlimited presets can be easily saved and recalled.  Latency is ultra-low (i.e., not even noticeable), and a precision tuner and metronome are built-in.  AmpKit is truly a powerful mobile guitar recording studio!

AmpKit LiNK is a high fidelity iPhone/iPod touch/iPad connector for electric guitar, bass and other instruments.  It has an audio output for headphones, powered speakers, or PA.  AmpKit LiNK is a powered device that virtually eliminates feedback — a key differentiating feature! The device works with any recording, processing or tuning app, including Agile Partners’ highly rated GuitarToolkit app.

AmpKit will be available on the iTunes App Store.  AmpKit LiNK is available for pre-orders now.  For more information on AmpKit and AmpKit LiNK, check out http://ampkitapp.com and http://peavey.com/ampkitlink

The thought put into the entire application is stunning, and I commend Robocat for such a great app. It has a great, persistent UI with a cute new way to look at the weather, the push notifications are useful and custom, it’s extremely reliable, and I just love it to pieces. To quote the AppStore description: “Outside is a visual weather forecast with custom push notification like you’ve never seen before.”

    Since we reviewed this app, it has received an update to version 1.1, here’s the list of things that were added;

✔ Multiple Locations! Manage your locations and where you get your notifications from in the new pull down Locations menu on the Home screen.

✔ 5 Day Forecasts. Swipe right on Current Weather Condition to see a 5 day overview. Tap the forecast to jump to that day.

    ✔ Completely revamped Message system.

✔ When temperature is above 68ºF or 20ºC in Current Weather Condition the coffee cup changes to a Glass of Lemonade. 😉

✔ Sleep mode disabled and Outside now auto updates weather every hour if left on. (For your dock viewing pleasure)

✔ Notification icon clock hands now shows actual time.

✔ Interface & Icon received minor touchups.

    ✔ 110% more love & Awesome

  • Tweeterena 2

It seems that there isn’t all that much love for the official Twitter app. Even here at RazorianFly our first impressions left us feeling a little, shall we say, disappointed. And it is due to this that I once again find myself buying an obscene amount of different Twitter apps to try. (more…)

  • Server Control – PC Only

Okay, so this isn’t an app we would necessarily cover here at RazorianFly, but after I showed my wife Air Video her only comment was “cool, but does that mean the computer has to be on all the time?” Suffice to say, she wasn’t impressed at the thought of the electricity bill.

I therefore returned to searching the App Store for a solution to this problem, how to turn you computer off when not physically near it. The answer? Server Control. (more…)
