Or so the developers, Graffitigeo Inc say ..

The idea is that you can leave virtual ”˜tweet’ like messages of no more than 100 characters for others to find, read and comment back on. If a location doesn’t have a wall, you can create one and its there for the whole world to see (well that part of the world that is using this app).

You can vote on other people’s comments by moving them up or down. Presumably, this means that the best comments will stay at the top of the wall.

Every time you post a message or receive a ”˜thumbs up’ you gain street cred. Gain 100 street cred points and you can create a mob and invite your friends to join you and claim territories where you’ve written comments. I’ve not been able to achieve this as yet, so don’t know exactly how this works.

The design is very sleek and it has a quick loading time even on my old 2g iPhone, during this brief time a random ”˜did you know’ fact is displayed. These are all American did you knows and gives some indication that this may be aimed primarily at the American market. Despite this I was eager to try out the app in full. Unfortunately, it appears that I’m the only person in this part of the UK who’s using this app, and it’s all about communities, and if no one else uses it, you might find yourself asking – What’s the point?

However, the application’s premise is good. There are even up to 70 achievements that can be unlocked, presumably as an incentive to leave messages for others to find. If you’re lucky enough to live in a city with enough users this could certainly be an interesting way to interact with the world around you. I certainly imagine this to be much more engaging experience in America or a major City like London.

So overall, this is certainly an interesting app but it’s success will all depend on convincing enough people to start using it, and I’ll help in my little way. It’s free so I say give it a go, you never know – it may have a bigger user base wherever you are in the world.

Current Status: Worth a Look

Reviewed at: v1.1
Reviewed on Firmware: 3.0.1
Download size: 0.6MB
Released on: 09 June 2009
Retails for: £0.00 / $0.00

Compatible with: iPod touch Gen 1 & 2 / iPhone Classic / iPhone 3G / iPhone 3GS (requires OS 3.0 or later)

Graffitigeo is a free app that turns the world around you into a graffiti wall.
