Throughout this month we’ve been hearing reports of Snow Leopard being launched before September and today Apple made that official and confirmed that on Friday 28th August 2009, they would releasing Snow Leopard into the wild.

This morning the Twitter community was buzzing due to the fact the Apple Store was down. Of course people were expecting it would have something to do with Snow Leopard and low and behold when the site was back online, users were able to pre-order Snow Leopard which will ship by Friday 28th August 2009. I for one would love to know how many people pre-ordered a copy in the first half an hour of the site going back online, as the amount of people tweeting about ordering there’s was incredible, Arron and several others of the RazorianFly team included. I haven’t pre-ordered a copy myself for two reason, the first being traveling at the time of the release and secondly its a great excuse to visit an Apple Store, what Mac user doesn’t love visiting Apple Stores?

Apple have been incredibly competitive with Snow Leopards pricing, due to the current economic status of the world, I’m sure its widely appreciated. Apple is rolling Snow Leopard out at only £25 for a single user and £39 for a family pack ($29/$49 respectively). Compared with the pricing for the upcoming Windows 7, Its just another great reason to be a Mac user or switch over to using Mac.

The features that Snow Leopard will bring, will certainly have an impact on who we use Mac OSX for the future. It’s something we’ve been waiting for Apple to announce and although not welcomed by everyone, support for PPC Mac’s will no longer be included in Snow Leopard. Some of the features that make Snow Leopard incredible and make us even more excited about it is the fact that once installed the OS will removed 7GB of data off your hard drive, I know for sure as MacBook user (with only an 80GB drive) this is an extremely welcomed feature as on a drive that small every gigabyte counts, other features include 64-bit support, Grand Central Dispatch, OpenCL and of course QuickTime X.

Here at RazorianFly we’re expecting to see great things from Snow Leopard, the hype is already huge and we’re counting down the hours till the launch on Friday. At the time of writing this article MacRumor’s is reporting that Apple is likely to sell five million copies of Snow Leopard this quarter alone, in October 2007 Apple sold two million copies of Mac OSX Leopard.

We’ll be following the launch of Snow Leopard here at RazorianFly and will be bringing you an in-depth review of the latest addition to Mac OSX – along with our opinions shortly after the release.

Ever since Apple’s WWDC Keynote back in June we haven’t stopped discussing and hearing rumors about Apple’s latest version of Mac OSX, Snow Leopard.
