In fact, when the device launched onto the market for the first time back in 2007, the iPhone soon became known for its easy of use touch interface. Some might even say a defining moment in touchscreen technology.

Earlier this week, the MOTO Development Group conducted tests on a number of well known mobile handsets in research they called “All touch screens are not created equal”. The test was simple. Using a robotic arm to guide a bone-less finger over the surface of each capacitive touchscreen screen, the finger attempted to draw precise lines across six different phones.

The results were pretty cool, but nothing shocking. Turns out, of all the handsets tested, the iPhone seemed to fair pretty darn well. However, MOTO notes “light tests revealed some weakness at edges”. The result of the robotic tests can be seen in the graphic below .. and all I can say is, I wouldn’t necessarily want to own a Blackberry Storm 2.
