After digging around the database late last night, the site found that iTunes Preview was listing new separate versions of well known applications like Labyrinth 2 as “Labyrinth 2 HD”.

“We did a quick scan and were able to find several titles clearly marked as “HD”, a common label developers are now using to indicate an iPad specific version of their app. HD is not a universal title for iPad apps, some developers are instead choosing “XL” to denote their iPad version or simply creating a universal build so that both the iPhone and iPad versions are contained in a single app. There are probably many more titles in the database that have been approved by Apple for the iPad that we haven’t yet stumbled upon.”

Among the titles found by the site: Ammoin HD, Azkend HD, Flight Control HD, Grind HD, HD Recovery, Labyrinth 2 HD, NBA Hotshot HD, Numba HD, Plants vs. Zombie HD, Sparkle HD and Worms HD.

Considering these titles are showing up on iTunes Preview, we’re inclined to believe these applications have already been approved for sale on some, currently hidden, section of the App Store.

As for them appearing on iTunes Preview in the first place? I think we can put that down to an oversight on Apple’s part.

[PadGadget via MacRumors]

iTunes Preview, the web-based service for previewing content on the iTunes Store, has started to indicate Apple may have already approved some iPad-specific applications.

[174,2144,2028
134,2215,1306,3507,2216,512
post-15891","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-blog","category-breaking-blog","category-ipad","tag-applications","tag-early","tag-hd","tag-ipad","tag-itunes-preview","tag-release
["GET
