Hit the jump for some screenshot love!

Sure there are a few cool Etch-a-Sketch apps hitting the store today .. but, do you remember that Magna Doodle you had when you were knee-high? If your memory is a little sketchy (see what we did there?), the toy consisted of a drawing board, a magnetic stylus, and a few magnet shapes.

Here’s how it worked. A magnetophoretic display panel was filled with a thick, opaque white liquid containing tiny dark magnetic particles. These particles could then be drawn to the surface by the stylus or the shapes. To erase and start over you just slid the slider which pushed the white liquid back into place.

Developed by Triangle Studios, Magnetic Draw for iPad aims to ignite that lost doodle passion once more, to bring back this classic drawing experience, this time on a touch-screen. The app uses almost the full surface of the iPad’s 9.7 inch screen to allow you to draw to your hearts content. Like the original, Magnetic Draw features a pen with the ability to choose different strokes, and various stamps to complete your drawing.

Screenshots

One large eraser-bar, which slides across the screen, enables you to remove your drawing and start with a clean sheet. You’re then able to share your creations with others.

Need to zoom in to get into those really hard-to-reach places? You can do that too! If you really want to see how the drawing looks, complete with Magna Doodle frame, simply zoom all the way out. The app will visually represent the classic toy in good-old childhood fashion, with your recent drawing intact.

In celebration of the upcoming release of Magnetic Draw and the iPad, Triangle Studios is launching the app at a 50% discount off the original price, in the first week following the release. Making its debut for just $0.99 (59p) the app is available for download now on iTunes US.

Available today, Magnetic Draw for iPad is truly a blast from the past.
