Well, that&#8217;s what you&#8217;d <em>like<\/em> to think. <!--more--><\/p>\n<p>The fact of the matter is, they hadn&#8217;t &#8211; until today that is. @Engadget is today <a href=\"http:\/\/www.engadget.com\/2010\/05\/04\/apple-granted-design-patent-for-iphone-3g-3gs\/\" target=\"_blank\">reporting<\/a> that Apple has finally been granted design patents for both its iPhone 3G released in 2008, and iPhone 3GS released just last year.<\/p>\n<p>Strangely however the patent filed is missing a home button. It is unknown as to why this is the case, but the site notes we shouldn&#8217;t be too worried.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.arronhirst.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/10x0504mebnwiphone3g.jpg\"><\/a><\/p>\n<blockquote><p><em>Don&#8217;t get too hung up on the missing &#8220;home&#8221; button &#8212; a US design patent covers any device &#8220;substantially similar&#8221; to the images above.
