Following the rumor yesterday that Vodafone may in fact have been gearing up to open pre-order for the new device sometime today Saturday, June 19th, a new rumor has surfaced today which suggests the company may not offer pre-orders at all.

We already know that both @O2 and Orange UK will not be offering pre-orders for the iPhone 4 here in the UK, but the rest of the carriers carrying the new device from June 24th Vodafone, T-Mobile and Tesco Mobile have yet to announce their stance on this.

Today’s tip comes from @MattAubrey, the original source of the “delayed” White iPhone 4 rumor, who suggests that while the company intended to offer pre-orders, it is no longer planning to offer these to its customers.

“Bad news re @VodafoneUK. Preorder now scrapped apparently. FCFS on Thursday! NB this is all unconfirmed unfortunately!”

The reason for the supposed turnaround is so far unknown at this point, and as stressed by Aubrey this is so far completely unconfirmed. If true though, Vodafone UK will join both O2 and Orange as becoming the third network in the UK following the ‘only available in-store from June 24th’ approach.

Stay tuned as we’ll have more on this when we have it.
