The wait is over. iOS 27 is now available to download publicly.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Apple has officially released iOS 27 today, bringing the latest generation of iPhone software to everyone.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n

The final public release is build 24A435<\/strong>, the same build Apple released as its Release Candidate last week. (Apple<\/a>\u2060)<\/p>\n\n\n\n

And if you prefer doing things the old-fashioned way \u2014 or simply want a clean IPSW file ready for a Finder restore \u2014 you can download the firmware directly from Apple\u2019s own servers<\/strong>, below.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

How to restore iOS 27 using Finder<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

If you\u2019ve downloaded the IPSW manually, installing it through Finder is pretty straightforward.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Before you start, make sure you have a current backup of your iPhone<\/strong>. A restore can erase the device, so don\u2019t skip this step.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

You\u2019ll also need a Mac running a recent version of macOS and a USB cable capable of connecting your iPhone to the Mac.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

1. Connect your iPhone<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Connect your iPhone to your Mac using a USB cable and open Finder<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Your iPhone should appear in the Finder sidebar under Locations<\/strong>. Click it to open the device summary.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

2. Back up your iPhone<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

If you haven\u2019t already made a backup, now is the time.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Under the General<\/strong> tab, choose Back Up Now<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

For an extra layer of protection, you can select Encrypt local backup<\/strong> if you want your saved passwords and Health data included in the backup.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

3. Download the correct IPSW<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Download the iOS 27 IPSW above that corresponds to your exact iPhone model.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It\u2019s important to use the correct firmware. An IPSW intended for a different iPhone model won\u2019t install.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

4. Hold Option and click Restore<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Here\u2019s the slightly hidden bit.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In Finder, hold down the Option (\u2325)<\/strong> key on your Mac keyboard and click Restore iPhone\u2026<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Finder will open a file picker.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Select the iOS 27 <\/strong>.ipsw<\/code> file<\/strong> you downloaded and click Open<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

5. Confirm the restore<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Finder will show the firmware you\u2019re about to install.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Confirm that you want to restore the iPhone.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Finder will then verify the IPSW with Apple and begin installing iOS 27.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Don\u2019t disconnect your iPhone while this is happening.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Your iPhone may restart several times and display the Apple logo with a progress bar. That\u2019s normal.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

6. Set up your iPhone<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Once the restore has finished, your iPhone will restart and display the setup screen.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

You can either set it up as a new iPhone or restore your previous backup during setup.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

If you\u2019re restoring because you\u2019re coming off an iOS beta, a clean restore can also be a nice way to start fresh with the final release.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

One important thing<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Finder doesn\u2019t simply install any IPSW you throw at it. Apple has to be actively signing the version of iOS you\u2019re trying to install.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

So while these are direct downloads from Apple\u2019s servers, that doesn\u2019t guarantee that an older or unsigned version can still be restored later.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

For iOS 27, however, you\u2019re good to go while Apple is signing build 24A435<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

What\u2019s new?<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

iOS 27 is a pretty substantial release<\/a>, with Apple\u2019s biggest Siri overhaul yet, new Apple Intelligence capabilities, additional parental controls, changes to Screen Time, improvements across Photos, Messages, Mail and Safari, plus a range of design and usability refinements.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The new Siri AI<\/strong><\/a> is particularly notable. Apple describes it as a more capable, conversational Siri with personal context understanding, onscreen awareness, app actions and access to broader world knowledge.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

And yes, after months of developer and public beta testing, iOS 27 is finally ready for everyone.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

If you\u2019re installing it today, make sure your iPhone is backed up first \u2014 especially if you\u2019re coming directly from a beta build.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

You can of course also download the update over-the-air by heading to Settings > General > Software Update.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n
