Can anyone shout out what the fundamental factors of a phone are? – You’d think the ability to answer a call would be pretty high up on the list, right? About 20 minutes ago I received a call. I missed it. Why? – My iPhone physically didn’t let me answer it …
Obviously, this has to go down as one of those, “I can’t prove it happened, but trust me, it did” scenarios. So, just now I was minding my own business, when my iPhone rang. The first thing I noticed was the screen wasn’t backlit, but the phone was still ringing. Now as I’m sure you know (but if you don’t) when an iPhone rings, like any other phone, it shows the person calling on-screen. Well today, it didn’t.
So anyway, I clicked the home button expecting to find options to answer the call. Nothing. The normal slide to unlock screen was there in place. I was expecting the call, so I knew exactly who it was who was calling, but I missed the call due to iPhoneOS not displaying the ‘Answer’ ‘Decline’ calling screen. The obvious answer would be, “it wasn’t a call, but an alert” … But it definitely was a call. One, because I rang back the person, and they confirmed they’d just tried to ring me, and secondly, I had no alerts set to go off.
I just started up a thread over at Mac Rumors, and it looks like I’m not the only person having these problems. To quote ‘Warbrain‘:
“I’ve had plenty of odd incoming call issues, the most recent being this:
Call came in.
Phone vibrated.
Slid to answer.
Held to ear.
Phone kept vibrating.
Pull phone from ear.
Screen still dark and won’t turn back on.
Phone still vibrating.Had to do a hard reset in order to make it stop. “
We all know the iPhone is still a little buggy, and with the compeltely re-designed frameworks included in 2.0 to support OTA application downloads, it’s bound to be. However, I would have thought after software version’s 1.0.0, 1.0.1, 1.0.2, 1.1.1, 1.1.2, 1.1.3, 1.1.4, 2.0 and finally 2.1, that’d we’d be getting somewhere near stomping bugs relating to incoming calls.
Then again, maybe I’m just expecting too much?
Maybe it was a one off?
Either way, I’ve submitted a bug report to Apple.
That’s a first on me. Anyone else experienced this kind of behavior?
Weird or what?!
