To give you a little background on the hype which was surrounding this game, Before it’s launch the developers at ustwo openly asked the question ‘Have you seen the dot?‘ on their Flickr account, just 2 weeks before it was released.

So what exactly is .â„¢ ? The studio explained to us that they wanted to start a method of iPhone application development, which hadn’t been tried before. It’s dubbed 48hApps. But, what is it?

.â„¢ is 1/6 of a suite of forthcoming apps from ustwoâ„¢, called 48hApps. Each of the apps is created in a 48 hour time period, and each is about simple, stunning design and simple, addictive game play. Collect all 6 games to complete the set!

Basically, it’s just as it sounds. The apps are produced from concept to final, within 48 hours. Or as they like to say: Concept. Design. Development. Produced in 48 hours. .â„¢ is born. It’s fair to say that is a huge feat for any iPhone dev to accomplish, but ustwo did – and frankly, the results speak for themselves.

Gameplay

There is one word for .â„¢. Addictive. It’s a survival game. The concept behind the game is simple, but well executed. You are .â„¢ (the white dot). Blue circles are food. Red triangles are death. .â„¢ starves and shrinks without food. Red death makes .â„¢ hungrier. Can .â„¢ survive?

Opening the game you’ll be thrown head first into game play, with .â„¢ shrinking with every second that passes by. Using tilt, you guide .â„¢ towards the rapidly appearing blue circles, all the while trying desperately to avoid the red circles (or DEATH). Each time you’re unfortunate enough to hit a red circle, you’ll shrink some more. The game ends when you (.â„¢) disappear completely.

If there’s one thing ustwo can do, it’s design – and they can do it well. I can’t seem to sum up this app better, other than say: With it’s vibrant minimalist visuals, matching backing track and seriously disposable price tag, I consider .â„¢ by ustwo, an App Store must-have gem!
