RFly.Me: We’ve Passed 2000 URL’s

We’ve Passed 2000 URL’s, have been integrated into a Mac application and have a bright future ahead of us. We first launched RFly.Me on Friday 8th May 2009, approaching the URL shortening services market with our own angle, to make an iPhone optimized site that would not only allow URL’s to be shortened but also email addresses and notes.

Now just three months down the line we’re celebrating surpassing over 2000 shortened URL’s.

2000 Shortened URL’s

As most people know, the URL shortening service market isn’t an easy one to get noticed in. To date, there are so many URL services to use, the competition is HUGE. Both myself and Arron are extremely stoked that in the short time we’ve had the service online, its had over 2000 URL’s shortened – and we hope there’ll be thousands more to come. We see this as a huge success for the site and have many more things in store for the sites users over the following few months.

We’d like to take this time to thank everyone who has supported RFly.Me since its launch, whether you’ve used it once or a few hundred times, every shortened URL counts towards a brighter future and (more importantly) an improved service.

TwitterFun

TwitterFun was launched on Tuesday 11th August by Frank and is the first Mac Twitter Client to have integrated the RFly.Me URL shortening service. I must say even though I’ve only used TwitterFun for a short period of time, this sure is a promising Twitter Client for Mac. You can download TwitterFun for free. Here. A full review of the software is on it’s way. Stay tuned!

The Future

If you’ve been following RFly.Me the past month or two you’ll have noticed we’re not your normal service provider. First off we’re not big on adverts, we’ve placed a tiny advert on the iDevice optimized site provided by AdMob and that’s the only advert you’ll see over the entire site. We’ve also adopted a different approach in terms of style and optimization, we always wanted to use RFly.Me right from our iPhone’s so we built an optimized site as well as a standard site for desktop users, our design also reflects this.

So what does the future hold for RFly.Me? Well, right now we can’t let too much slip for several reasons but we have several ideas for the site and will be deploying the first of what we hope will be several new features starting at the end of August 2009. We are also going to be reviewing our API’s for the current services to make them more accessible to developers and people wishing to integrate RFly.Me into their sites and applications. These API’s will be made publicly available. During this time we’ll also be working to continually keep the site optimized for both iPhone (and iPod touch), and will be making several improvements.

We’d also love to here your comments and suggestions for RFly.Me, whether its something we can change or add to the site to make it better for you, the user. Please feel free to leave a comment or mail me at james [at] razorianfly.com.

Again thank you to everyone for their continued support of the site and stay tuned as we’ll be announcing and deploying several new features to RFly.Me starting late August 2009.
