A few months ago we saw Twitter founder Jack Dorsey, unveil his secret company to the world. A simple, user-intuitive, deemed revolutionary system which would fully manage mobile payments on the move.
The concept behind @Square is simple. How do you take normal every day payments, and make the process of paying someone as painless and quick as possible, while preserving the purpose of payment? Square is a new type of technology which uses a special accessory certified by Apple which takes advantage of the headphone ports on the iPod touch, iPhone and now the iPad, allowing users to swipe their credit or debit card to purchase goods on the move.
Essentially, the software turns any mobile Apple device into a mobile kiosk. Of course, Square takes a split of these transactions, taking commission of each sale, plus 15 cents. The software is deemed revolutionary due to both its ease of use and intuitiveness, but also because the service requires no setup fees. Square Inc will send you the special accessory needed to take payments on the move, free of charge.
What’s even more amazing is the user can sign their name on screen and e-mail themselves a receipt of their transaction, directly from the app.
As well as the Square service officially launching today, Square Inc have today pushed out an update to the app which adds universal support, meaning the software can now run on all iPod touch, iPhone and iPad devices, as well as Android.
