After Steve Jobs published an open letter on his “Thoughts on Flash” running on the company’s iPhone OS-based mobile devices last month, it was clear that it would only be a matter of time before Adobe would publicly have to respond to the letter … and today, they have.

@Viticci of Mac Stories is reporting via @Engadget that the original founders of @Adobe, Chuck Geschke and John Warnock, have responded to Jobs by launching their own ad campaign and publishing their own open letter to the CEO.

In the letter, Geschke and Warnock state that while Adobe as a company [heart] Apple, they don’t like how Apple is “taking away your [our] freedom to choose what you [we] want to create and how you [we] want to create it.”

With the duo adding:

We believe that consumers should be able to freely access their favorite content and applications, regardless of what computer they have, what browser they like, or what device suits their needs. No company ”” no matter how big or how creative ”” should dictate what you can create, how you create it, or what you can experience on the web.

When markets are open, anyone with a great idea has a chance to drive innovation and find new customers. Adobe’s business philosophy is based on a premise that, in an open market, the best products will win in the end ”” and the best way to compete is to create the best technology and innovate faster than your competitors.
