If you’ve been following the recent acquisition of Loren Brichter’s @Tweetie 2 by @Twitter, you’ll likely know that the app was soon to become the official iPhone Twitter client, and be renamed “Twitter for iPhone”.
Today, @TechCrunch is reporting that the app has been removed from the store, with the site highly expecting it to be back up tomorrow. As well as the name change, the app is expected to return with a price tag of FREE. Will we see the app gain a different App Store icon? I for one hope not.
Rumor has it that Brichter, who was the original developer of the software and now continues to work on the Mac client, of which Twitter hasn’t yet bought the rights to, will be continuing to work on the Twitter team and Tweetie 2 for iPhone.
This should be interesting to to watch as is plays out. Stay tuned — as we’ll let you know when the app returns.
