Today is the day. After Apple announced the iPad in January of this year at their special event at Yerba Buena, since having launched it in the US, and after multiple delays from the original ‘March’ release date internationally, due to reported stock shortages, the device has today finally flown the pond to a further 9 countries.

This morning at 8AM (BST), the iPad became available in Apple Stores across the world, with countries such as Australia, Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, Spain, Switzerland and the UK waking up to the launch. Long lines have since been reported in a number of locations, with some people even camping outside of their favourite Apple Stores to be the first to get their hands on the tablet computer.

In a surprise move yesterday, people who had previously pre-ordered the device from Apple.com started to receive theirs, which is pretty out of character for Apple. Apparently, according to multiple sources, Apple actually sanctioned couriers to release the devices to customers, starting May 27th.
