We all know how crazy things were getting yesterday trying to pre-order iPhone 4 from both Apple and AT&T, with their systems seemingly crashing on every page we were lucky to get through to. But today another internal memo has leaked from AT&T which suggests the company has now temporarily suspended iPhone 4 pre-orders.
@BGR is today reporting that an internal memo sent to AT&T employees this morning states that pre-orders, new activations, upgrades and exchanges of iPhone 4 have been temporarily suspended until further notice.
[Update] – @ModMyI is now reporting AT&T may have moved all new pre-orders going forward to ship in 2-3 weeks.
[Update 2] – This is now thought to be inaccurate due to an AT&T employee claiming the message was shown throughout yesterday’s pre-order process.
…that 2 – 3 weeks shipping message was being displayed yesterday during pre-order 1 as well, it is just the way AT&T’s system work[s], since technically they never had iPhone 4’s in stock. They outline this message in their internal employee documents explaining it. This is not because they ran out of iPhone 4 pre orders, customers should still expect at this point to receive their phones from June 25th – July 2nd.
We’ll update you on this when we have more.
