Separate from the news that new iPhone 4 pre-orders are now being pushed back by Apple to ship ‘by July 14th’, a new rumor which surfaced just a few minutes ago suggests the June 24th launch may be about to be pulled altogether, at least for AT&T customers.
As skeptical as you may be about this, you may want to read on …
Twitter user @alchemistmuffin claims to have spoken to an AT&T representative over the phone who stated that while the pre-order has been a success, the overwhelming demand for the device and system crashes has caused Apple to come to a decision.
“This is what I got from a phone call with AT&T this morning, when I decided to check on when approximately iPhone 4 in white is available. They told me over the phone that AT&T is currently canceling all pre-orders, and Apple is going to announce sometime this week that iPhone 4 has been delayed.
iOS 4, however, will still ship on time, and iPhone 3GS 16 GB for $99 will come with iOS 4 preloaded.”
While this information comes from a supposed phone call, we remind you that AT&T representatives and employees may not be fully aware of current pre-order situations and/or launch procedures, and because of that we’re placing this one in the unlikely drawer.
