The Countdown to iOS4

A few hours ago now, you may have seen that I made a rather bold move tweeting that I expected the 4th iteration of iOS to drop at roughly 6PM (BST) today. The tweet has since gone global, with hundreds of people re-tweeting it as we speak.

Here’s how I came to that conclusion.

Today, our source close to Apple (who has asked not to be named), and previously correctly predicted the launch time of iOS3, has today told us he expects iOS4 to become available publicly around 10:00AM PST.

iOS4 Is Now Available For Download

Just a reminder that this software update will only work with iPod touch Generation 2 and Generation 3, iPhone 3G, 3GS and iPhone 4. iOS4 does not run on iPod touch First Generation due to its hardware not being able to support the OS’ features, and although iOS4 works on iPhone 3G Apple states not all features will be present, again due to hardware limitations.

Get ready, it’s coming.

Don't understand why they wait until the US is out of bed to release it… surely they should let Europe get it over and done with, and so reduce the load on their servers?
