Apple has officially released visionOS 27, meaning Apple Vision Pro users can now step out of the beta cycle and into the latest version of Apple’s spatial operating system.
The update is available to download publicly from today, alongside Apple’s other major software releases including iOS 27 and macOS 27 Golden Gate.
And while visionOS can sometimes feel like the quieter member of Apple’s software family, visionOS 27 actually brings some pretty substantial changes to the Vision Pro experience.
Siri finally gets serious
One of the biggest additions is Siri AI.
Apple’s next-generation Siri is designed to be considerably more capable and conversational, with personal context, broader knowledge and the ability to perform more actions across the system.

On Vision Pro, that becomes particularly interesting because Siri can exist alongside the spatial interface rather than simply appearing as something on a flat screen.
Apple is also bringing Visual Intelligence to Vision Pro, allowing users to ask Siri about things they are looking at. (Apple)
That feels like one of those features that makes considerably more sense once you’re actually wearing the headset.
Your surroundings can become part of the experience
visionOS 27 also expands Apple’s approach to spatial environments.
Spatial panoramas can now be used as custom environments, giving users more control over the space surrounding their apps and windows.

It is a small but important distinction: rather than Vision Pro simply placing you inside one of Apple’s predefined environments, your own photos and memories can become part of the space you’re working in.
And that’s very much the direction Vision Pro needs to continue heading.
Less “look what this headset can do” and more “this is simply how I use a computer now.”
A bigger vision for Apple Vision Pro
visionOS 27 isn’t a reinvention of Vision Pro, but it does feel like another step towards Apple making spatial computing feel less experimental.

The original visionOS release was about establishing the fundamentals: floating windows, immersive environments, spatial video and an entirely new way of interacting with a computer.
Now Apple is layering intelligence and more personalised experiences on top of that foundation.
That’s arguably more important than another flashy demo.
visionOS 27 is available now as a free software update for Apple Vision Pro.
To install it, open Settings → General → Software Update on your Vision Pro and download the update.
Time to put the headset back on.
