Well, the iPad may not replace your Mac or PC, but Apple’s new tablet sure is selling by the bucket-load!
Technology review site Gizmodo is reporting that due to stock shortages on the first manufacturing run of the device, Apple has now pushed the shipping date for all new iPad orders to April 12th.
Originally, the iPad could be pre-ordered by US customers for delivery to their chosen address, on April 3rd, with the 3G model shipping for ‘Late April’.
Although now it seems, with the current amount of orders the company has taken in over the last few weeks, they have completely exhausted the first run of units of the device. Also, as reported by 9to5Mac the company has, as of today, also removed the in-store pick-up option.
As for just how many Apple has sold from the start of availability of these pre-orders on March 12th to today? Well, rough estimates say Apple managed to sell 120,000 units on first day, with 6,000 to 12,000 units per day over the first week (excluding the first day) and roughly 7,000 units per day for the second week of availability.
