Yep, you read that right. The well-respected American newspaper and website The Onion is set to land on iPhone, this Friday.

Unlike the app they launched last year, this new attempt (if real) is a more serious attempt at bringing The Onion you love, to your fingertips. According to news site Mashable, the app will allow you to browse stories in a number of ways including; recent and popular, with the ability to search articles if needed.

Of course, being an app made in the 21st century and like all self-respecting news outlet apps, The Onion for iPhone will also allow you to share each story with a friend either via Twitter, Facebook or if you prefer, e-mail.

What’s perhaps the best part of this though, is the app will be completely FREE thanks to a commercial advertising deal struck with Jack Link’s Beef Jerky.

According to the company:

“[Jack Link’s Beef Jerky’s] noble offer must be celebrated here for what it is: a selfless act of financial sacrifice committed to ensure that the integrity of journalism as we know it does not perish from the Earth,”

Look for the app dropping (or not), this Friday!

We are the proud “Joe – the Plumber” behind this app. The iPhone team at techEndeavour put in not some inconsiderable effort testing the patience of the folks at Onion (and reading Onion news on the side). Here's to some rub off publicity for people behind this ….yep you got it right. http://www.techendeavour.com – the mobility company 🙂 Brataunde and Mike @ Onion , thanks for the support – Makarand
