If you’re pretty sick of trying to type on the iPad’s on-screen keyboard, and the various positions aren’t working for you, ClamCase may just have you covered.
When the iPad was first announced, many people picked fault with it over a number of its lacking features, one of those being it’s on-screen keyboard. Although a tablet computer to some, others still wanted (or required) a physical keyboard. Sure, Apple has it’s keyboard dock retailing for $69 plus free shipping – but where’s the fun in that?
The ClamCase is basically a laptop shell into which you slide or clip your iPad, thus becoming a laptop. But the concept, which is set to hit the market Winter 2010, isn’t as rounded as its made out to be. Didn’t Steve Jobs say the iPad was meant to replace the netbook? Essentially the ClamCase turns it back into one, and a fairly low-spec one at that.
The keyboard connects to your iPad via Bluetooth and the whole setup means that you can once again look like an ordinary laptop user in coffee shops””albeit tapping the screen will give you away.
Never-the-less, a cool looking product we can’t wait to get our hands on. No pricing of further details are available on the ClamCase just yet, but we should expect to hear more on the product as the end of the year approaches.
