Amplitube® iRig – Shred With Your iPhone, iPod touch or iPad!

Okay, now we have a netbook killer!  Today I was literally knocked out of my chair by what could have been the best email I have ever received (aside from the one that said I was now an author of RazorianFly).

IK Multimedia, a recording and music making giant, has announced the iRig and AmpliTube for iPhone, iPod touch, and iPad.  Finally, I can have the worlds most awesome and truly mobile amp along with my 8 string axe of doom!

The iRig is a combination of both software and hardware which will allow you to plug your guitar into your idevice of choice and rock out with some of the most revered amps of rock history.  With IK Mutimedia’s world class emulation technologies, which even many big name acts use for studio work, these amps sound so authentic, you would swear you were playing through a Fender Twin Reverb.

On top of the 5 amps provided, iRig also offers up to 10 stompbox effects, 5 cabinets, and 2 mics to choose from.  A fully configured rig consists of 3 stomp effects, an amp, a cabinet, and a mic.  Once you devise your dream rig, you can save it – up to 36 of them.

So you got your dream rig saved and your picking your heart out as you write that next big hit, while sitting in a cafe right?  No, wait, that’s more like me.  However, you don’t just have to jam your own riffs and songs.  iRig also allows you to import songs from you iPod’s library so you can jam along side James and Lars to Master of Puppets!  Or Miley Cyrus, if that’s what floats your boat.  We won’t judge, we promise.

The app will be available in three different packages; Free ($0.00), LE ($2.99 / €2.39), and Full ($19.99 / €15.99).  Each will include all the functionality such as tuner, metronome and amp saving, however, more amps and effects are available the higher you go.  You can also add the gear you want via in-app purchases for $2.99 / €2.39 each.  The iRig adapter is available for $39.99 and includes the free version of AmpliTube.

Both the iRig adapter and AmpliTube apps will be available soon, but be sure to head over to IK Multimedia’s site for all the nitty gritty so you too can rock out – anywhere you want to!  I will surely be one of the first in line to pick this up!
