Already available as a separate camera-based app for iPhone, Juicy Bits Software yesterday announced their 3D photo editing software 3D Camera Studio, would be coming to iPad.

Posting a preview video to social sharing site @YouTube, the developers showed off what the software is capable of. Using two separate canvases, 3D Camera Studio for iPad allows users to merge two photos from their existing photo library together, to form what’s called an anaglyph.

These are a special kind of photo consisting of two visual layers which have been slightly offset from eachother. These images can then be viewed as a 3D stereoscopic image using everyday 3D glasses.

The app has a magnification loop which can be called with a tap, allowing you to get the perfect alignment for each of your photos. The studio also allows you to modify the modes in which you blend the two photos – and if you have 3D Camera for iPhone, you can use this to wirelessly send photos and anaglyphs to your iPad, and visa versa.

According to the developers, 3D Camera Studio for iPad was submitted early last week and should be available “soon”. We’ll keep an eye out for when it does hit the store, but for now enjoy the video above.
