Boxcar Version 3.0 Now Available – Adds Universal Support for iPad, All Services Go FREE

If you’re not yet familiar with Boxcar, the app is a push notifications service designed to give you the ability to keep track of activities happening on your @Twitter and @Facebook accounts, even allowing you to setup options to alert you of new posts on your favourite sites and more recently Growl notifications on your Mac …

Ever since its introduction back in July of 09, the software has become highly popular reaching a staggering 150 million push notifications successfully delivered.

Earlier this morning, version 3.0 of the software went live on the store, which adds a few welcomed features. Firstly, all the in-app purchases are now absolutely FREE, although have been replaced by in-app advertising, which if you want to get rid of those will now cost you $4.99 to “upgrade” to pro.

Secondly, Boxcar now universally supports iPhone, iPod touch and iPad, meaning you’ll now experience an iPad-specific interface, rather than having to run the app in pixel-double mode. Its pretty nice for the most part, but some aspects of the UI just feel like they’ve been up-scaled from the iPhone version.

Version 3.0 Change Log:

– Revamped Inbox.
– All services are now free.
– Universal Binary for iPad.
– Ability to delete notifications.
– Added 5 new sounds.

Thanks to everyone who sent this in!
