Jeffery Grossman’s app store venture, Movies [App Store] recently caught the attention of a major player. Flixster, the movie social networking site, has bought the application and it’s rights from Grossman. This is the first ever acquisition of an iPhone application. The exact figure Flixster stumped up for the application, is not being publicly disclosed.

Last night, the application re-launched onto the App Store, bringing with it, version 1.5. This new update includes a totally re-designed user interface and many more new features. Among the new features are:

…

– Expanded list of theaters and movies
– Movie posters and descriptions for all movies
– Trailers for all box office leaders and upcoming titles
– Search a library of over 50.000 movies with detailed information
– Support for Canada and UK
