Gizmodo reports that Apple will be holding an iPhone OS 4.0 event, this Thursday. That’s right, in three days time we’ll be getting a sneak peek at what the long awaited 4th iteration of the iPhone software will bring.

Will we see multitasking as wished for by so many people? Personally, I’m hoping for a better notification system as this has become so integral with most apps, that something really needs to be done. Thankfully, we won’t have to wait too much longer to see what Apple have planned.

The other question on people’s lips may include whether the software will be supported on the original iPhone. Many people have speculated that Apple will stop supporting this device as it’s now nearly 4 years old. Hopefully, we will see support for the 3G and 3Gs.

The big question is — When will the consumer get their hands on OS 4.0? I wouldn’t imagine it coming before July, but we’ll have to wait and see! We’ll have a live text and photo stream from the event. The event is scheduled to start 10AM Pacific. Join us here LIVE on Thursday!

What do you think of this rather surprising announcement? What do you want to see in OS 4.0? Be sure to head over to our forums and let us know. Let the wild rumors commence!
