Twitter User Ann Falkov Successfully Registers @Apple

It was the Twitter account we all wished to register, @Apple. 15 days ago, May 12th 2010, Ann Falkov managed to register the Twitter username for herself.

Ever since @Twitter was first introduced, despite their “impersonation” policy which sees all persons with the intent to mislead or purposely pretend to be a corporate identity, removed from the social network, many people have still tried to register names of brands and businesses they love and admire, even attempting to register the account @Apple.

But almost all never got the chance to due to Twitter itself imposing what appeared to be a full-blown ‘reserved’ stance on the account, many people of which began to speculate if Apple had actually instigated the action, to protect the account for the future.

“So I am absolutely bowled over. Here I use the user name apple just because the other ones I typed in were all taken. And boom…”

On May 12th 2010, just 15 days ago a girl named Ann Falkov successfully managed to register the Twitter handle @Apple, consequently ending her first tweet with ‘And boom”¦’. Is this Apple CEO Steve Jobs in disguise? .. We highly doubt it.

One thing is for sure though, if Twitter are serious on keeping the account name free in case of a future arrival of the Cupertino based company, the account won’t remain registered for much longer.

“It was the Twitter account we all wished to register, @Apple.”

I couldn't disagree more… Why would I (or anyone not employed by Apple for that matter) want the Twitter account name @Apple? @Apple does not accurately describe who I am or what I represent, nor would it accurately describe you or anyone else not currently employed by the company.

The only possible reason I can see for registering that account name is fake publicity. It is essentially the same as domain name squatting. A temporary ego trip, nothing more.

I hope Twitter disable the account to be honest.
